Liberal Bid to Give Higher Profile to Ku Klux Klan Takes a Hit After Miniseries Cancellation

Stealthy leftist efforts to make the Ku Klux Klan relevant again were dealt a blow when television network A&E abruptly cancelled a racially inflammatory new miniseries after it was discovered that payments had been made to participants including Klan members. The series which is entitled “Generation KKK” had been recently forced to change it’s name to “Escaping the KKK” due to squawking by groups like the black supremacist organization Color of Change that it was normalizing racism.

Then suddenly, after a tumultuous week A&E pulled the plug on the series entirely.

As reported by the Guardian “KKK documentary canceled after A&E learns producers paid Klan members”:

An upcoming documentary series about the KKK has been canceled after the television network that had commissioned the controversial program discovered producers had paid for access to the show’s subjects.

The eight-part series, due to premiere on 10 January, was canceled by the A&E Network on Saturday, just 24 hours after changing the show’s name following objections from civil rights groups. It was originally titled Generation KKK but was changed on Friday to Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America.

In a statement, A&E explained that third-party producers were responsible for giving “nominal” cash payments to KKK members in order to gain some access.

“While we stand behind the intent of the series and the seriousness of the content, these payments are a direct violation of A&E’s policies and practices for a documentary,” the network said in a statement. “We have now decided not to move forward with airing this project.”

The network had previously told civil rights groups, including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and Color of Change, that it had not given any payments to “hate group members”.

That turned out to be false, however A&E said in its statement that “we believed that to be the case at the time”.

Since its announcement last Monday, the series had been facing mounting criticism and accusations that a reality show about “high-ranking Klan members and their families” could serve to normalize the hate group.

But that would seem to be the point for the series in the first place. The left has much invested in conjuring visions of an intolerant America populated by bitter racist white people fighting against diversity as they seek to derail Donald Trump’s presidency and a return to prominence by the KKK would be a key aspect of such a strategy. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect bogeyman that could rile up the rabble.

After all, the Dems rescued geriatric neo-Nazi and KKK’er David Duke from obscurity and transformed him into a media sensation thanks to the left trying to chain him and Trump together at the hip. The Democrats and their media lackeys also got great mileage out of a low circulation newspaper said to be the official organ of the Klan endorsing Trump right before the election and show no signs of abandoning the inflammatory politics of race in order to try to appeal to the white working class voters who thumped Hillary.

The series will languish on the shelf for awhile after the producers were caught with their hands in the cookie jar and once the controversy has been forgotten it will rematerialize given the potency of the Trump as white nationalist myth with the inhabitants of the liberal moonbat fever swamps.
